He Came ...He Saw ...He Spoke ....He left

Well the President came to visit us bitter clingers ( his words ) here in North Eastern Pa today. It was his usual its not my fault, its the Republicans fault speech. I won't go into the details but suffice it to say it was nothing new. Here's a link to his speech on C -SPAN

http://www.c-span.org/Events/President-Obama-Presses-for-Payroll-Tax-Cut-Extension/10737425872/

And I missed this completely until a friend pointed it out but one has to ask where Bob Casey was while Obama was in his hometown. ...WHY ?

Drill Baby Drill

Its not often we here in the United States get good news concerning energy production but that may slowly be changing despite the best efforts of the Obama administration to curtail all forms of carbon based energy production. Here in NEPA ( North Eastern PA ) UGI our local natural gas supplier has just announced a 9 % reduction in its rates. This rate reduction is likely due to the Marcellus Shale production in our local area and other large gas finds nationally. Now it seems that we are seeing an increase in our exports of refined oil products as noted by a Wall Street Journal article
.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

So long as the U.S. remains the world’s biggest net importer of crude oil, currently taking in nine million barrels per day, it isn’t likely to become energy independent anytime soon. Yet its growing presence as an overall exporter of fuels made from crude gives it greater influence in the global energy market.
If the trend toward net exports persists, it could also influence the national political debate over U.S. energy policy, which has been driven primarily by concerns about upheaval in the Middle East over the past decade. The independence of the U.S. from foreign oil sources has long been a lightning-rod issue in Washington, one further inflamed by last year’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Supporters of off-shore drilling have used the desire for independence to push their cause, setting up a battle with environmental groups and others who prefer a shift away from carbon-based fuels.
The growth in exports is part of a “transformation of the energy system,” says Ed Morse, global head of commodity research at Citigroup Inc. “It’s the beginning signs of a process that will continue for the next decade and will point toward energy independence.”
The reversal raises the prospect of the U.S. becoming a major provider of various types of energy to the rest of the world, a status that was once virtually unthinkable. The U.S. already exports vast amounts of coal, and companies such as Exxon Mobil Corp. are pursuing or exploring plans to liquefy newly abundant natural gas and send it overseas.
Now if we were just allowed to explore and produce our own energy reserves which increasingly seem to be far more abundant than prior estimates have indicated. We could retain billions of dollars that we have been sending overseas and further increase revenues by creating jobs and expanding the tax base. If we were allowed.

Its Time To Buy

I've been following this issue for some time and in about 30 days you will no longer be able to buy the 100 watt light bulbs and will have to buy those nasty little Mercury ladened over priced bulbs that environmentalists love so much. I think its time for a Home Depot run.

EDITORIAL: Time to stock up on light bulbs

Government ban on mercury-free fixtures takes effect Jan. 1

Tea Party vs.Occupy Wall Street or Democrat vs. Republican

I can't sum it up any better than this video by Richard Epstein concerning the difference between the Tea Party and the OWS movement and by proxy between Democrats and Republicans. We have reached the end of the road as far as the progressive model is concerned. Its going to take time for the majority to come to that understanding and its going to be painful but it will come. Its merely a question of how big a thud and hole we are going to make when we hit at the bottom of this cliff and that it seems to me is what we are fighting over now, the size of the crater we are going to leave. ..... * SHRUG *

White Guy Go Away

There is a op - ed in the New York Times today in which the democrat strategy for the 2012 and apparently all future elections is supposedly laid out. It says in essence NO WHITE GUYS NEED APPLY. It seems the democrats have decided they have created a large enough entitlement class that they no longer see the need to even make the effort to attract white working class voters. So who is the new democrat constituency you ask, it is and I quote  " Seizing the New Progressive Common Ground,  describes instead a new progressive coalition made up of young people, Hispanics, unmarried women, and affluent suburbanites " that quote is from a paper co authored by James Carville. Does this strategy come as a surprise to anyone and did anyone else notice that it made no reference to African Americans. They vote for democrats at over 90 %  and for Obama at over 95 %   so I understand them not mentioning African Americans. There is no need to wine and dine them, they are to coin a phrase, a sure thing.

We have watched the democrat party essentially build the framework for this strategy for decades and now they believe it will bare fruit. With as much as 51 % of working American paying no federal income taxes, with the largest number of Americans on food stamps than anytime before in our history, with near historic numbers on unemployment or under employed or who have just given up I wouldn't bet against it. I have long since come to the conclusion that paranoia concerning politics in this country is less paranoia and more often than not just a insight into future events. This strategy explains the 1965 immigration act and the absolute loathing of anyone in the democrat party to restrict illegal immigration in anyway and the fanaticism of democrats when it came to minority set asides or it would if I were paranoid. You might find the op ed a interesting  read ... link below.

Barney Frank Gone ?

Well rumors are swirling that Barney Frank has decided to retire. My thoughts are ....YIPPIE

UPDATE....It just came across my local news media I guess that moves it from rumor to almost fact

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/11/28/frank_will_not_run_again.html

Frank Will Not Run Again

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) will not run for re-election for a 17th term. He'll hold a press conference at 1 pm ET to discuss his decision.

A close adviser tells the Boston Globe that "the new district in which Frank would have had to run next year was a major factor in his decision. While it retained his Newton stronghold, it was revised to encompass more conservative towns while Frank also lost New Bedford, a blue-collar city where had invested a lot of time and become a leading figure in the region's fisheries debate."

Roll Call: "Some possible candidates for his newly redrawn seat include City Year co-founder Alan Khazei, who recently dropped his Senate primary bid, and former Chairwoman of the Brookline Board of Selectman Deborah Goldberg.

Things Just Became A Bit More Interesting in New Hampshire

Currently Mitt Romney leds by a very wide margin in New Hampshire. Will this make a difference for Gingrich

For President, Newt Gingrich

  • Newt Gingrich talks about issues during a stop at the New Hampshire Union Leader on Monday.

    (DAVID LANE/UNION LEADER)

This newspaper endorses Newt Gingrich in the New Hampshire Presidential Primary.

America is at a crucial crossroads. It is not going to be enough to merely replace Barack Obama next year. We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing.

P.S. Newt is up in Iowa according to a ARG poll. So what happens if Newt does indeed take Iowa and then a very strong second in New Hampshire or even a 1'st place finish ? Will the rotund lady be singing ?

Chris Matthews Hints Media Leans Left

I read the headline and thought now there's some breaking news that the rest of the world has missed. On Fridays MS NBC program Hardball of which Mr.Mattews is the host casually dropped that he indeed thinks the media may lean a wee bit left. Coming from the guy who tingles when Obama speaks, its hardly a startling revelation. My next thought was this has to be as fine an example of understatement as any I have ever seen. The media does not merely lean left in this country. They lean so far left and have done so for so long that their left legs are shorter than their right legs.  They have been so genetically altered by environment and breeding that they can for the most part no longer walk across level ground without walking in a circle. A circle to the left of course.

Last week on the NBC program the Jimmy Fallon show they introduced  Republican candidate for the presidency Michelle Bachmann with the song  " Lyin' Ass Bitch " . Later, the shows drummer Ahmir " Questlove " Thompson apparently the gentleman responsible for the songs selection said " The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision. The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention, ". The problem with that defense is that he tweeted before the show this tweet.... " late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title. " ... A little left Mr.Matthews ....really

P.S. Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson is a ardent Obama supporter and has contributed to his campaign

Occupy Wall Street To Return

Like most people I paid scant attention to Occupy Wall Street for the first several weeks after it was birthed by Adbusters a Canadian group of liberal malcontents. At the time it seemed to me to be an odd export from our neighbors to our north but I figured that they had also given us Molson and sometimes you have to take the good along with the bad and it evened out.We got to drink their beer and in exchange we took a few of their hippies who had been looking for a purpose.

Well for the first few weeks it looked as though we had gotten the better of that trade. The hippies were in their element, hanging out, banging on bongos, creating shortages in the local cannabis trade and making friends with the park pigeons and we continued to drink Molson and everyone was happy. Then the press for reasons which eluded me at the time decided to take notice and the rest as they say was history. It didn't take long for their ranks to blossom with members of every liberal cause which had sprung from their oh so fertile minds over the last 50 years. The Che T - shirt clan, the free my cannabis crowd, the 9 - 11 truthers, communists, anarchists, the homeless, felons, the anti Semites,  Michael Moore and the unions, they all came. I heard rumors that Ron Paul supporters had even shown up at several of their encampments.or maybe they had been there first. In any case it wasn't long before the pigeons had decamped, Manhattan was experiencing plumbing problems and the police were on overtime. I remember thinking to myself at the time and after all the new additions that nothing good was likely to come of this as I had noticed over the years that often when large groups of angry liberals get together bad things happen. 5,000 arrests later I still think that.

It didn't take me long to realize that the OWS movement was just a branch office of the re elect Obama effort supported by the usual suspects in the media and unions. The single unifying theme once you cut threw the babble was the rich were evil and to save the nation we had to have more of their money and they were mean for not giving it to us. Which coincidentally was what Obama and the unions were saying. I'm not saying that it was Obama himself with his hand up the back of their shirt making their mouths move but I'll bet he knows the guy who was doing it.  In any case the movement seems to be withering , the weather, arrests and time taking their toll but the Obama campaign has it in their back pocket and I suspect with the event of warmer weather and the looming election the Obama campaign sometime in the Spring or early Summer will trot out the shell of the OWS movement restaff it with good union members and have it up and running for the election
